PLEASE STOP HURTING CHILDREN

"Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.” (Matthew 19:13-15 KJV)

I believe as Jesus said “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven” that He was angry because they tried to keep the children from Him. I also believe that it made Him very sad and broke His heart. The tragedy is that today people are still keeping children from Jesus by their hateful actions. We are not just doing this to our own children; we do it to every child that we come in contact with.

It is urgent that we love children to Jesus, not only by our kind words, but especially by our loving actions. When I was a child growing up, my parents were constantly fighting. There were angry words spoken and a lot of cursing. That in itself was bad enough but my Mother used to tell me when I disobeyed her “Wait until your father gets home, you are going to get it.” My Mother made me afraid of my own Dad.

I was frightened of my own Dad and didn’t want him to ever come home. The most serious result of being made afraid of Dad, I was afraid of God for many years. I didn’t understand how God could possibly love me if my own Dad didn’t love me. I really was afraid of God. Please don’t make your children afraid of God. I have forgiven my parents and it doesn’t bother me anymore, but when I was a child at home, it was very frightening.

Please stop hurting children! Parents, if you have to argue, please go to your bedroom and close your door. Don’t shout because your children can hear you through the walls and through the door especially if they are standing at the door of your bedroom. Also, please do not criticize and ridicule your spouse in front of your children. I know a man who constantly criticized and ridiculed his wife in front of his children. This man did it for so many years that the children started doing the same thing to their mother.

They ridiculed her and were very disrespectful to her. One day this man will stand before a Holy God and give an account of the way he treated his wife and children. All of us will stand before a Holy God and give an account of the way we treated every child we meet. It is the parent’s responsibility to raise their children, but it also our responsibility to love them to Jesus by our kind words and our actions.

Again, if you are arguing and fighting in front of your children, grandchildren, or any child, please stop hurting these precious children. How would you feel if you were yelling at your spouse or your children and Jesus came back for us at that very moment? You would have to hang your head in shame.

Not only that, it would hurt Jesus and break His heart. Jesus loves children and He gets very upset when we hurt children. It is time that we stop hurting children and start loving them to Jesus by our words and by our actions. How will our children know that we have a loving Saviour if they never see the love of Jesus in our actions and hear His love in our words? May God forgive us and have mercy on us for hurting His children.
